Church In The Fast Lane

Motorsports Ministries is an organization conceived, developed, and operated to provide for the spiritual and emotional needs of the people involved in professional and amateur automobile racing. The ministry strives to bring balance and perspective, providing ministry and encouragement to the whole person. The ministry endeavors to influence the unchurched as well as those with a Christian commitment. Recognizing that life, like racing, is composed of multi dimensional experiences; Motorsports Ministries attempts to encourage individuals to understand the essence of life from a Christian viewpoint.

Among the services provided to the racing community are non-denominational chapel services held each race weekend. Full and part time Chaplains serve professional and amateur racing series in order to provide counseling, encourage fellowship, and provide other pastoral ministry to the participants in the series. All of the programs and services of Motorsports Ministries are targeted to the spiritual enrichment of the individuals who pursue automobile racing as either a profession or an avocation.

Richard Anderson founded Motorsports Ministries in 1984, in response to a desire by participants in various professional racing series to increase the fellowship of believers and have their needs for pastoral care met while following a racing circuit for a good part of each year. Anderson has continued to minister to a wide cross section of believers within the racing community since founding the ministry. The primary thrust of the ministry has been Professional Sportscar Racing, Inc and other ministries have evolved over the years as well.

A need was recognized to expand the ministry to cover the American Le Mans Series and Grand American Road Racing, SCCA Pro Racing, SCCA club racing, Historic and Vintage Racing and other forms of motorsports. Over the years, Motorsports Ministries has been able to recognize and fulfill needs as they have occurred.

This continued expansion of the scope of Motorsports Ministries has been facilitated by numerous supporters who have come alongside to share in the ministry with financial gifts and frequent encouragement have facilitated expansion of the scope of Motorsports Ministries. The financial support of the racing community has been the primary resource for the continued operation of Motorsports Ministries. The fact that the ministry not only has continued operation, but has increased activity, is an indication of the value that the auto racing community has placed on Motorsports Ministries and its mission.
