Update from MM President, Terry Borcheller

Motorsports Ministries is on the move and familiar faces are leading the charge! We covered all of the sanctioned tests for Daytona & Sebring through the winter. We also heard of the loss of our very dear long time friend & major supporter in every way, Dennis Spencer. Such a passion for racing & our ministry. Our prayer's continue for his family & the amazing people he has that help us with our go kart fund raiser each year. Dennis' friendship, smile, & crazy but infectious sense of humor will always be missed.
When the green flag waved on 2017, we were on the gas & once again had a great presence for the 24 hours of Daytona & the 12 hours of Sebring. Motorsports Ministries had all of the chaplains on hand for the Daytona 24 race weekend, including Dale Sankey working with & leading the boys from the Vero Beach Teen Challenge for our 10th consecutive year with them. Steve Kearney has such a great influence with the corner workers in the Florida region & he has been a huge blessing for that side of the ministry. He has introduced me to many of those that he's built relationship with for many years. Steve was a big help at both Daytona & Sebring. Steve Geitgey also came down for the Daytona race weekend & is always a big addition to the team. He's just recently returned from the Detroit Grand Prix weekend where he had a great weekend of ministry. Mat & Katie Anderson decided to make one more splash at the Long Beach Grand Prix with the baby in tow!
I took the Texas stop at COTA. We were asked to bring the sad news but also the encouragement of the Gospel as our community received the news of the passing of Holly Job & Preston Hinn. There has always been a real sense of thankfulness & gratitude from the racing community for this aspect of the ministry. We had a great turn out for both chapels & I have really grown to enjoy those early morning meetings with all the corner workers for the weekend. I am given complete liberty thanks to our good friends within IMSA & they are always kind enough to allow me to encourage & pray for this special group of people within our sport. I just left Road Atlanta where I heard of the details of Hazel Harrell's death. A corner worker (she favored turn7!) at Road Atlanta for many years. What a dear lady & terrific loss for Road Atlanta & our sport. She went out doing something she was passionate about & enjoyed. Our prayers are with her family & many friends at Road Atlanta & throughout the racing community.  The memorial service for Holly Job was on June 10th,  which Alex asked me to prepare a video for all those that came to attend at AJR. Steve Kearney was also in attendance & said she was honored well. He also said the Lord's presence was experienced & that makes me happy for Alex, AJR, & the many friends and family that came, as tough as I know it was.  Alex mentioned that's what Holly would have wanted & for that alone I'm grateful that it went well.
Our next stop is Watkins Glen where Steve Geitgey & I will share ministry opportunities through the weekend. There will be no slowing down through the summer as we get into the busiest time of the season.
Congratulations to all the LeMans winner's! Even though Motorsports Ministries didn't have a presence there this year, we had many in our community involved in the race.
As many of you know, summer is a popular time for VBS (vacation bible study). My youngest son, Troy (7), recently came home from VBS wanting to memorize his scripture verse so he could win a prize the next day. I agreed to help. His verse was Philippians 4:19 “God gives you everything you need by Christ Jesus.” WOW! The more we memorized, the more I realized the power of this great truth. Many of you know I lost my dad this last March. He lived a full life & was an amazing man on multiple fronts. The best & worst part of his passing was that it was sudden. He didn't suffer (best) but overnight, he was gone (worst). For those of you that have ever lost a loved one, you understand all of the emotions you travel through in such a short period of time. There were & still are times when I feel completely overwhelmed because of the loss of the greatest man in my life that I've been in relationship with my entire life. What do I do with this? What do you do when you’re completely overwhelmed & all the distractions we involve ourselves in don't seem to be helping the current situation. Troy's VBS memory verse doesn't change my reality, but it does remind me that regardless of my condition (internal or external), best or worst, up or down, our Heavenly Father has got my back. "God gives you everything you need by Jesus Christ". God gives me everything I need by Jesus Christ! You see this isn't just a slogan, it's a word breathed from God to you, to me. Every time I've been completely overwhelmed by the passing of my Dad, I trust God to do what He says He will do & to be who He says He will be. He gives me everything I need by Christ Jesus, one moment at a time, one day at a time, exactly what I need. My experience has been that He never fails. He is trustworthy & He is faithful. My prayer is that each one of you find Him to be trustworthy & faithful during your times of greatest need as well.
Thank you to all of you across the Motorsport community that continue to pray for us & continue to support us financially. We simply would not be doing what we're doing if it weren't for you. If you don't pray for us on a regular basis, or support us financially on a regular basis, would you please consider teaming up with us for the rest of 2017 & into the future?
Thank you again, & May God bless you!
